Trading Barbecue for Ocean Breezes
Leaving Kansas City wasn’t something I decided overnight. I love that city. The familiar streets, the comfort of knowing where to get the best barbecue, the seasons that change right on cue. But after a while, routine started to feel a little too routine. I wanted something that would shake me up a bit, something that felt alive.
So I packed up and headed south to Miami. Talk about a change of pace. The first thing you notice here is the energy. People are out at all hours, the music drifts out of every corner, and the ocean is always just a few minutes away. Even a simple morning coffee feels different when you can sip it outside under palm trees instead of bundled up against the cold.
Kansas City gave me a strong foundation, but Miami is giving me momentum. Here, I walk more, explore more, say yes to more. One night it’s Cuban food in Little Havana, the next it’s seafood by the beach. The sunrises hit different when they reflect off the ocean instead of a skyline.
This move isn’t about leaving something behind. It’s about stepping into something new. I’ll always carry Kansas City with me, but right now, Miami feels like possibility in motion. And sometimes, that’s exactly what you need.
